“HAPPINESS OF LIGHTS PUSHED TO THE SHORE“, 03'11”, video, 2024

The Khorenyan Armenian School is now used by seasonal waste collectors as both shelter and storage for discarded materials.

In the video “The Happiness of Lights Pushed to the Shore”, the erased traces of a community reappear in an unexpected place: the cart of a waste collector.

The work creates an abstract space of confrontation with a history that has been covered over, yet frames this confrontation as a form of collective insistence. The ghosts of once-hidden faces emerge in the light-filled cart of someone who gathers discarded materials, a figure usually overlooked. Around Khorenyan, the flickering lights that cling to the place evoke the experience of uncovering an insistence on seeing despite destruction.
